The new korfball season is nearly upon. We have had a great summer with training in fine weather at Emerson Valley Sports Pavilion and the half a year's worth of rain falling on Korfstock (oh well all 40 teams still showed up). We also played in tournaments at Leicester, Nomads and Oxford, had demo matches at the Brook End Basketball tournament. And several of us have just returned from a fantastic few days camping in the New Forest and relaxing on the beach near Bournemouth as part of the annual korfball camp where we were trained by a new crop of coaches and even played (and beat) a team of coaches who were mainly from Uni teams.
We of course had the highest highlights with the marriage of Pete and Emma (who met at Roos). And we also had the weddings of Laura (long time City player) to Darren who was a Roos player. Adam from Rogues also got married, to a non-korfer, in August. And finally Joanne of Colossus was married in June. So a very romantic summer and only one match was missed! So good timing and priority setting by all involved. Well done.
A great summer. But now training returns in September.
For Roos we will resume on 7th September at a slightly later time than last year. Training this year will be 7.45-9.30pm at Shenley Brook End School indoors in the main sports hall. We will be fieldinga team in the South Midlands 1st Division and a team in the South Midlands 2nd Division.
We are very keen to welcome new players whether you have played before or not.
This year Darren will be joined by Nick Bohknecht to coach the sessions.
Call Darren on 07949411502 to know more or simply turn up with kit and have a go. The first two sessions are free for new players.
